About Us

Gather, Plant, Heal, Grow

Temenos Gardens grew from our founders' desire to develop a safe refuge for communing with land and people. With the objective to develop knowledge and awareness of nature and consciousness, we strive to cultivate a sanctuary for discovery.

Who we are

The community of Temenos Gardens is made up of a diverse group of people who share in a passion of creating community, interacting with the land, and breaking apart segregation and isolation. We come together in this sacred space to find refuge and to work together to serve each other and our community.

Bruce Watts has enjoyed the process and experience of being involved with Temenos Gardens from the beginning. The Temenos volunteer group have brought joy, purpose and life to some under-utilized property and helped to preserve a historic barn.

Bruce has had a career in aviation and business management. He has enjoyed working in various leadership and other roles with local volunteer and non-profit organizations such as Woodland Sunrise Rotary, St. Luke's Episcopal Church and Fourth and Hope.

He is dedicated to the concept of sharing space, resources, ideas and energy to benefit others, learning along the way and enjoying the journey.

Kevin Hawkins, Vice President

Kevin Hawkins,
Vice President,
Facilities Lead

Kevin Hawkins joined Temenos with a love for nature and a desire to see a space created where anyone can reconnect with themselves, others, and to their roots. A place where diversity is celebrated on all levels and is actually the answer to our isolation, separation and mono culture. As a deeply spiritual person, Kevin enjoys the silence provided by this sacred space. He loves studying and implementing permaculture techniques and heads up the food forest on the land.

Tom Eaton, Treasurer

Tom Eaton, Treasurer

Tom Eaton has been involved in the Watts-Woodland Airport community since the 1970’s. From the mid 2000’s he has promoted various efforts to build community, on and around the airport vicinity. Tom’s career path included agriculture and farming service businesses. He has now transitioned to other interests. The vision to develop a small community farming operation has been met with enthusiasm and hard work.

Tom has been involved in the Temenos Board of Directors since the board’s formation. With a history of pragmatic decision making and priorities of public safety and responsible environment stewardship, he is a dedicated board member. As a career, he developed businesses which required effective time and resource management. With developing interests in the arts (with a primary media of photography), clean water for developing populations, and flying small aircraft, development of community farming has been a natural place for the use of his energy.

Amy Allen, Director

Amy Allen, Director,

Amy Allen joined the Temenos Board of Directors in 2021 when she recognized the opportunity to be part of something special with limitless potential for positive impact. Growing up, Amy was exposed to a variety of socioeconomic and culturally diverse experiences and understands the importance of feeling connected to the community in which she lives. She believes strongly in learning about and creating a connection with her neighbors in the broader community. She is hugely passionate about the gratifying and healing nature of harvesting and feeding people directly from the garden. She recognizes Temenos as an opportunity to create sacred spaces where all people can connect, reflect, and build relationships while working on a common goal.

Carrie Rosing, Director

Carrie has been a part of Temenos since 2022. She has helped spearhead the online presence and develop the website.

As a local educator, she is passionate about hands-on learning experiences. She believes Temenos is a place to learn, heal, and grow, providing a variety of experiences for herself, her family and her community. It provides a place to pause and experience all that our earth has to offer.
